Soccer Nova Scotia is seeking a minimum of six (6) qualified candidates to serve on its Referee Development Committee commencing late March 2022. 

  • 50% Metro Reps (Reside in Halifax Regional Municipality) 
  • 50% Rural Reps (Reside outside of the Halifax Regional Municipality) 

The Soccer NS Referee Development Committee is not a representative committee however, a goal of this committee is to have representation from multiple regions. It is populated from a mixture of volunteers, who have experience in the soccer community, connections with referees in their local soccer community, experience as a past or present referee is ideal, but not required. Committee members may not be referees in the Promotion Scheme as the Committee approves promotions. 

The Referee Development Committee is a collaborative effort on behalf of Soccer NS, that will produce final recommendations to the SNS Referee Development Officer on Referee Programs and referee matters throughout NS. 

We strongly encourage any past or present referees or active soccer community individuals connected to their local referees throughout the province to apply for this committee. 

Selected nominees will be willing to serve a two (2) year term and attend Referee Development Committee Meetings a minimum of 4 times per year. In addition, the nominees will be over the age of 18 years, have a current Criminal Record Check or willing to obtain, and be in good standing with their respective referee association or Club, District or League. 

If you are chosen, you will be responsible to complete “respect in workplace” training and obtain a Criminal Record Check if one is not currently available. Both will be paid for by Soccer Nova Scotia

  • Candidate’s referee association, club, district, or league 
  • Area of residence 
  • Indicate relevant experience and years served 
  • Highlight personal skills and qualities that would be helpful to this committee
