The Nova Scotia Canada Games Men program is currently in Leicester, UK for a number of games against local amateur and academy clubs.
Nova Scotia vs Leicester FC Academy – March 14th, 2017
After two positive results the Nova Scotia Canada Games squad came crashing down to earth with a humbling 7-0 loss to an excellent Leicester FC U17 Academy program.
The story could of got off to a very different start, with Nova Scotia starting very well and should have taken the lead, with an effort from Tyler Webster.
From that moment, Leicester started to get a hold of the game and really demonstrated the ruthless nature that is required at the top, with every mistake being capitalized on. A huge learning experience for all involved.
Final Score 7-0
After returning from the lows of the game the squad were honoured to be in the middle for the Champions League anthem of Leicester FC vs Seville in the second leg of the Champions League. A truly remarkable game and a huge history breaking moment for our hosts.
Nova Scotia vs Preston North End FC Academy – March 15th, 2017
The beautiful thing about sport, is there is always another game and the boys had a chance to redeem themselves when they travelled to Preston to play their academy.
After ten minutes, Nova Scotia struggled to get a hold of the game and whilst the deadlock had not been broken, it seemed the squad was in for another difficult evening.
However, once Nova Scotia strung a number of passes together, the team settled and started to have long periods of the game where they controlled the tempo.
Similar to the Leicester game, Preston took advantage of some unforced errors and opened the scoring finishing the first half 3-0, this was not a reflection of the overall performance but a reminder of the clinic nature required at the top level.
Nova Scotia started the second half the same way they played the majority of the first, with Joe Iatrou scoring a deflected effort from outside the box to make it 3-1. Minutes later some great work from Blake Fenton squaring the ball for Coleman Hooper who missed the opportunity to make it 3-2.
Fantastic performance from Nova Scotia, major improvements being made.
Final Score 4-1
Nova Scotia vs Syston Town – March 17th, 2017
The Nova Scotia Men returned to Leicestershire and on a very damp cold Friday night played the amateur team of Syston Town. Nova Scotia controlled the game from the first minute to the end of the game. Unfortunately, similar themes occurred from previous games, where individual errors and a lack of being clinical in the final third, resulted in Nova Scotia being down 2-1 half way through the second half.
After a number of substitutions against a tired Syston Town, the Nova Scotia squad finally started to find their range scoring three goals in 5 minutes, winning the game 4-2.
Goals from Jack Harvey, Enrico Rodriguez x 2 & Damon Robinson
Final Result 4-2
