As a continued response to Covid-19, Canada Soccer, with the support of the provinces, we continue to have the theory component of the community coaching courses online. The following coaching courses are included in this initiative:

  • Active Start: working with children aged U4 to U6
  • FUNdamentals: working with children aged U7 & U8 (U9)
  • Learning 2 Train: working with children aged U9 to U12
  • Soccer 4 Life: working with youth and adults U13+

Each coach will be able to complete the theory component of their respective course online via Google Classroom. Following the completion of the online theory component, coaches are required to participate in the practical part of the course at a later date – when it is safe to return to play. Coaches are not considered trained until the practical component of the course is satisfied and each coach has been trained in Making Ethical Decisions (delivered by CAC).

REGISTRATION PROCESS:

  • Coaches will follow the same registration process as previous years, via Coach Centre
    • For those new to the registration process, use the resources below to register
  • Once coaches register for the course on Coach Centre, they will be placed into Google Classroom by Soccer Nova Scotia
  • Cost will be deferred until the practical component of the course is completed
    • we encourage coaches to use their “club code” when selecting payment options as it allows us to more effectively track and defer fees
    • for coaches that are not using the “club code” and are incurring the cost directly please contact Nino Kovacevic at Soccer Nova Scotia (email listed below)

COMPLETING THE THEORY COMPONENT:

  • Each course comes with instructions on how to complete the course modules
  • The online content is broken down into modules consisting of videos and a check for understanding
  • The theory component requires 40 to 90 minutes, depending on the course
  • If at any point coaches have questions around the course content or functionality of Google Classroom, they can connect with Soccer Nova Scotia staff via the Google Classroom

FOLLOWING THE COMPLETION OF THE THEORY COMPONENT:

  • Soccer Nova Scotia will work with the home club of the coach to establish a time and place that is convenient for the completion of the practical component of the course
  • Practical components should be completed within 12 months of taking the theory component. This is subject to provincial health guidelines and return to play procedures.
