Soccer Nova Scotia have appointed their coaching staff for Canada Games Niagara 2021.
Female Head Coach
Name: Jared Griffiths
Bio: Jared is a Physical Education teacher for 10 years at Sacred Heart School of Halifax. For two years Jared was the Athletic Director before moving to his new position as the Dean of Students. Jared grew up playing Tier 1 soccer for Highland as a youth player transitioning to playing with their senior team and playing NCAA soccer for the University of Maine at Presque Isle for four years serving as team captain in his senior season. Upon moving to Halifax Jared played a number of years for the Suburban F.C. Senior Men’s team.
Coaching Experience: Starting coaching Tier 1 soccer in 2008 with Highland F.C. Upon moving to Halifax Jared began as a head coach with Suburban FC in the following 8 years Jared coached in 7 provincial championship games, winning 3 Provincial Championships. Jared was the head coach for the 2017 U-17 Girls Suburban F.C. team who won a bonze medal at the National Club Championships. Jared has been a Soccer Nova Scotia Provincial Team staff coach since 2012, coaching within both the boys and girls programs. In addition, Jared has been a staff coach with the REX Girls program at Soccer Nova Scotia, since it began in 2014.

Female Assistant Coach
Name: Kaitlyn MacIsaac
Bio: Kaitlyn is currently finishing her MSc in Physiotherapy, having previously done a MSc in Pharmacology/Neuroscience. Kaitlyn grew up in Bedford, NS playing in the tier 1 program at Scotia Olympics at the time (Now Suburban FC). Kaitlyn was a NS provincial player and a member of the National Training Centre Atlantic (now REX). She went onto to play for the NCAA University of Maine Blackbears (2008-2012), where she played within the WPSL, and W-League for four seasons. Since moving back Kaitlyn plays in the Nova Scotia Senior Women’s Premiere League.
Coaching Experience: Kaitlyn started coaching back in 2012 as an assistant coach for the U14 NS Provincial girls. Within that year Kaitlyn also was the head coach of the U18 Suburban FC women’s team. Throughout her time coaching in the club stream she has coached in four provincial finals, winning one Provincial Championship in 2017. Kaitlyn also held the position of Technical Director for 1.5 years at Bedford Soccer Association. Kaitlyn has been a Nova Scotia Provincial Team Staff coach since 2012 coaching on the girls side of the program. In addition, Kaitlyn has also been a Nova Scotia REX girls staff coach since it began in 2014. During this time Kaitlyn was fortunate enough to participate in the mentorship pathway and attend the U14-U17 East Canadian National Team camp in 2017, as well as be head coach to the U13/U14 NS Girls team at the Whitecaps showcase in 2018.

Male Head Coach
Name: Matt Holton
Bio: Matt has been with Soccer Nova Scotia for two years with him currently holding the role as Soccer Nova Scotia Talent Development Consultant and the Grassroots Development officer prior to that. Prior to Matt joining SNS, he worked for local club Halifax City where Matt worked for five years in roles as Technical Director & club staff. Matt originates from the UK where he played in local youth academies Leyton Orient & Dagenham & Redbridge. Since moving to Nova Scotia, Matt has playing experience for Acadia University & Halifax City Premier Men.

Name: Andrew McDonald
Bio: Andrew grew up playing soccer in the Suburban District through Scotia Soccer Club. Since graduating as a youth player, he has committed to volunteering and working within the region as well as Nova Scotia as a Board Member, Coach and Employee. Andrew is currently a teacher for the Halifax Regional Centre for Education and Head Coach of the Suburban FC U17 Girls.
